In the opening game of the 2020 Disney Girls HS Showcase, the Delaware FC G04 team battled the Florida State Champions to a 1-1 draw on a warm Saturday morning. Afterwards, the Delaware girls nearly got on the board when Emma Gioffre broke through the defense, beat the keeper but was denied when a defender made a last second tackle, clearing the ball off of the line. Both teams had chances, yet the game remained 1-0 in favor of Sunrise Prime FC at the half. That set the stage for Tyla Walker, when a handball resulted in a free kick about 25 yards from goal in the 62nd minute. The sophomore from Middletown HS stepped up and buried an inch-perfect free kick high and to the far post to tie the game at 1.
Delaware withstood some pressure late in the half however goalkeeper Kaitlin Li was able to keep Florida out of the goal and the game ended in a hard fought 1-1 draw.

In a battle of teams from the Mid-Atlantic, Delaware FC G04 took on a group from Baltimore Celtic under the lights at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Early on, both teams felt each other out with neither team creating many scoring chances.
It wasn’t until the 19th minute, when a Celtic player got loose and was able to chip in a ball from about 18 yards out over the out-stretched arms of the DEFC goalkeeper.
Twenty minutes later, Delaware’s Ryan Mundy was able to draw a penalty kick and converted her chance to level the score just before the halftime whistle. That’s when Delaware caught some Disney magic and came out on fire. In the 51st minute, Emma Gioffre took a pass from Tatum DeVault and found the back of the net with a beautifully placed shot lofted over the goalkeeper. Less than 3 minutes later, Gioffre took a short corner kick from Madison Mosier and again found the net with her signature shot over the goalkeeper. That’s when the girls sensed the opportunity and took over. Desiree Zapata added two goals in the next 7 minutes and Ryan Mundy added an insurance goal just before the end of regulation as Delaware took home a convincing 6-1 result.
When the score was 4-1, Delaware’s goalkeeper Cassidy Howe made a full-extension penalty kick save that continued the Delaware dominance where every player seemed to have a highlight.
