Winter Season Information

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the health and safety of all players, coaches, and members of Delaware FC Hockessin is our top priority.

Covid-19 Update - we will be following mandated guidelines from Governor Carney and the Department of Public Health.

We will be running the 2021 Winter program slightly different from past years in order to adhere to the pandemic safety guidelines while ensuring our players get a meaningful soccer experience. In years past players in the various age groups were assigned to a “team” and had games every Saturday. In addition, parents and other family members could watch the games.

Different his year, players will be assigned to an age group and each age group will have a time slot on Saturdays between the hours of 10am and 2pm at the PAL center in Hockessin. You will receive notification of your time slot shortly. The youngest age group will be coed, while the other age groups will be grouped by gender. Each session will include a 10-15 minute skills session followed by 4v4 or 3v3 games. Each week the teams will be formed randomly for the games. We will continue to use futsal balls, which are special low bounce balls used for indoor play.

The PAL center is limiting the number of people in the facility to 50 at any given time. For the older age groups this will mean dropping off and picking up your player, but not being able to come inside and watch the games. We are trying to schedule the youngest age group so 1 parent can be in the building while the session is being run. In addition, everyone, including players, must wear a mask while in the building.

We will need two to three volunteer coaches for each time slot to assist the staff in running the skills portion and running the games. We will be reaching out to those that have expressed an interest in coaching.

Stay tuned for further updates as we get closer to our January 2nd start date. Everyone at DEFC is excited to get things underway and getting our players back on the ball.

General Information

The Winter Indoor Recreational Program is a fun way to keep playing soccer indoors through the winter months. This is a "game only" format program with games every Saturday at the Hockessin PAL Center. Games are played with a "futsal" ball on a hard court surface. Futsal balls are special low-bounce balls that promote foot skills and creativity. The game is fast and fun!

This program is for Recreational players in age groups 2015/2016 (U6) thru 2007/2008 (U14). Not available for travel/competitive carded players. The plan is to offer gender specific play for all age levels. However, if we do not get enough players by gender to register for any given age group, then we will combine to form coed teams in that specific age group.
