Atlanta United have signed goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard (a Delaware FC alum) from the club’s USL affiliate ATL UTD 2, the club announced Thursday.
Delaware FC proudly congratulates Ben on this impressive accomplishment.
Lundgaard, 25, started 13 games in the USL Championship last season for the club. He was drafted by the Crew with the 21st overall pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft and has featured for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Indy Eleven.
“Ben has been a model of consistency and hard work since joining Atlanta United 2 and he’s earned an opportunity with the First Team,” club VP & and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a club statement. “He’s still young for his position and has a great opportunity to learn from our current group of goalkeepers, while providing additional competition.”
Lundgaard joins a goalkeeping depth chart led by longtime No. 1 Brad Guzan as well as Alec Kann.
