Delaware FC and Delaware Union to merge under the Delaware FC brand

Delaware FC and Delaware Union SC are excited to announce their official merger, creating Delaware's most comprehensive youth soccer organization.  The merger, expected to close over the next several weeks, brings together two non-profit, community-based organizations with long and established histories providing youth soccer in Delaware.  

The merger creates a Delaware-based youth soccer organization with the deepest and most experienced professional staff in the State as well as Delaware’s largest recreational program and a competitive program that offers a professional and personalized approach that caters to every player’s needs.

Delaware FC remains dedicated to developing well-rounded players, prioritizing talent development over talent identification, which unfortunately has been a growing segment of the youth soccer landscape with the continued expansion of for-profit youth sports businesses.

The genesis of the merger was crafted by both clubs from the viewpoint of what is best for all players and their families.  With combined staff and resources, Delaware FC is positioned to serve the largest number of soccer participants in the state with a common-sense youth sports experience.

Delaware FC is a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization formed to promote the development and enjoyment of youth soccer.

RECREATIONAL SOCCER & SUMMER CAMPS

Delaware Union's recreational soccer programs and Summer camps will also become part of Delaware FC. These programs will continue to be the close-knit community soccer programs in the Middletown area that Delaware Union families have grown to know and love. Delaware FC is excited to bring additional coaches, resources, and value to these programs.

ABOUT DELAWARE FC

For over 30 years Delaware FC has provided quality soccer programs in northern Delaware and we are excited to be extending our competitive soccer programs throughout the State.

The Delaware FC competitive soccer program philosophy is based in player development. We strive to provide each individual player the opportunity to play soccer in an environment that is challenging, supportive and appropriate for their long term success and enjoyment of the game.  Our professional coaching staff are trained to provide individual and team skills development that are appropriate for each player's interest and ability while maintaining a positive atmosphere that is stimulating physically, mentally and socially.

Delaware FC's recreational soccer programs are locally based and provide opportunities for players beginning at 3 years old to experience the game for the first time as well as continuing to play the game and enjoying the many benefits of the youth sports through the High School ages.  Introductory programs for the youngest players are under the guidance of a professional coach while older ages are coached by a large network of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers supported by the club's professional staff.  In addition, in keeping with the club's mission of "Soccer For All', Delaware FC has a regionally awarded TOPSoccer program for physically and cognitively challenged kids.

  • Delaware FC has the largest and most experienced coaching staff in the area with many former professional and collegiate players, as well as former and current college coaches.   All DEFC staff coaches are experienced and credentialed through the Unites States Soccer Federation and/or United Soccer Coaches (formally the NSCAA) or other qualifying organizations.
